The much anticipated season three premiere of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black popped up on the streaming service last week and mentions of the program were so strong that the drama was able to unseat HBO’s Game of Thrones as the most mentioned program in our TOMAmeter. Game of Thrones enjoyed an eight week run at #1, but after the shocking finale this past week the program may be able to claim the top spot by this time next week.
Credit to LeBron James and Steph Curry as mentions of the NBA on ABC are at an all-time high in our TOMAmeter rankings. This week’s 11th most mentioned program improved by five spots from last year’s Finals and by three places from the 2013 Finals.
CW’s The Flash tumbled down seven spots to #20 while Arrow moved five places in the other direction, finally settling at #13. Meanwhile, NBC’s America’s Got Talent has fallen completely out of the Top 20 after being the 8th most mentioned program last week.
With the addition of Criminal Minds (#10) to the Top 20, CBS ties ABC as the most represented network this week with five programs apiece. Rounding out the Top 3 was FOX, which had three programs make the cut.
New programs in our Top 20: CBS’ Criminal Minds (#10), ABC’s NBA (#11) and FOX’s Bones (#18).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: NBC’s America’s Got Talent (previously #8), ABC’s Modern Family (previously #15) and FOX’s Family Guy (#20).
Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.
Here are your TOMAmeter results for June 8 – 14.
