Last summer’s blockbuster hit returned for its second season and also returned to the TOMAmeter rankings. TNT’s The Last Ship debuted at #8 in our rankings this week, which is the programs best performance to date.
Another program back for its second season is HBO’s True Detective. The popular paid cable drama returned with another star studded cast and mentions of said program were strong enough to propel it to #12 this week. This is the programs 4th entry into the TOMAmeter since the program premiered back in January 2014.
Among the programs that were in last week’s Top 20, CBS’ Big Brother and NBC’s America’s Got Talent saw the greatest growth by moving up nine places each to #5 and #10 respectively. On the flipside of that, ABC’s The Whispers has fallen eleven spots down to #17.
Just beyond the Top 20 we see the soon to be premiering drama on CBS, Zoo, which will likely enjoy a long stay in the Top 20 throughout the summer. CBS has had success with new summer programs in the Top 5 in our TOMAmeter over the last two years. Under the Dome (2013) and Extant (2014) have each occupied a spot there for a number of weeks during their respective premieres.
CBS is head and shoulders above all other networks when it comes to being the most represented. This week, CBS had six programs in the Top 20 while no other network had more than two.
New programs in our Top 20: TNT’s The Last Ship (#8), HBO’s True Detective (#12), NBC’s Hannibal (#13) and ABC’s The Bachelorette/Bachelor (#16).
No longer in our Top 20 this week: CW’s The Flash (previously #12), ABC’s Modern Family (previously #15), NBA (previously #16) and Scandal (previously #20).
Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.
Here are your TOMAmeter results for June 22– 28.
