It’s August, and the fall season brings football with it! This week, coverage of NFL preseason football re-entered the TOMAmeter at #10. NFL coverage re-entered the TOMAmeter at approximately the same time as last year, so despite Deflategate, the NFL is back to normal.
Following its season finale, True Detective begins to slip in the rankings, dropping three spots to #14. It has yet to be renewed for a third season, so only time will tell if we’ll see it return in the future.
Meanwhile, the top three programs in unaided mention remain unchanged this week, with The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Orange is the New Black continuing their run of dominance. It’s been over two months since any other program managed to take a spot in the top three.
With just one week until its premiere, Fear the Walking Dead holds steady at #8 in the rankings. Its premiere this upcoming Sunday is highly anticipated by many.
CBS continues its dominance as the top network with five programs ranking among the leaders in unaided awareness. ABC follows with three programs, and AMC, the CW, FOX, and HBO all follow with two programs apiece.
Falling out of the top twenty in unaided awareness this week are CBS’ Zoo (previously #14) and Under the Dome (previously #16), as well as the 2016 Election (previously #17) and Law and Order (previously #19). In their places are NFL (#10), Criminal Minds (#12), Family Guy (#18), and Grey’s Anatomy (#19).
