The end of the 2015-2016 broadcast season and the start of the summer TV season brings the annual tradition that is Game of Thrones-mania to the forefront of the TV world. Game of Thrones took the #1 spot across almost all demographics, with The Walking Dead following close behind. Other big movers for the month include Orange is the New Black, (moving up from #20 to #11) thanks to a promotional push in anticipation of season 4, debuting on Friday, June 17th, and Castle, which entered the rankings following the announcement of its cancellation. On the whole, there isn’t as much notable movement to be seen in May for the TOMAmeter because it falls in the gap between the end of the broadcast season and the bulk of summer programming.
Although the NBA just missed the TOMAmeter among total respondents, among men it was solidly in the top twenty thanks to the NBA playoffs, and a thrilling Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors.
ABC and CBS continue to lead in mentions in the TOMAmeter with 5 programs for ABC and 4 for CBS.
