TOMAmeter June 2 – 8: Orange is the New Black Keeps Rising

Netflix’s Orange is the New Black returned for its second season last week and mentions of the program were so strong that it boosted the show up four places to #2 this week. With all episodes released simultaneously, it will be tough for Orange is the New Black to stay this high in the rankings. That being said, the Netflix original will certainly be tough competition for reigning champion Game of Thrones.

HBO’s True Blood continues to perform well in the Top 20 after placing at #17 last week; the popular blood sucking drama has moved all the way up to #9 this week. Look for the program to continue its successful run as the final season is set to premiere in a few weeks’ time.

Speaking of premieres, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars is returning for its fifth season this week and with that, the drama has returned to the Top 20 coming in at #13.

Both of the popular singing competitions continued on familiar trajectory as FOX’s American Idol and NBC’s The Voice fell out of the Top 20 after crowning their respective champions a few weeks back.

With the addition of Criminal Minds to the Top 20 this week, CBS stands alone with five of the twenty most mentioned programs while ABC and AMC tied at three apiece.

New programs in our Top 20: ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars (#13), CBS’ Criminal Minds (#17) and ABC’s Once Upon a Time (#19).

Falling out of our Top 20 this week: NBC’s The Voice (previously #16), FOX’s American Idol (previously #12) and Bones (previously #20).
