The month of April brings with it the rise of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which fell just a few mentions short of AMC’s The Walking Dead despite only premiering toward the back half of the month. In fact, among several key demographic groups, including P18-49, Game of Thrones surpassed AMC’s zombie show for the month. Over the next few months, as Game of Thrones runs through its highly anticipated sixth season, we expect to continue to see it atop the TOMAmeter.
Another notable entrant to the TOMAmeter is AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, the spinoff show that attained sixth place for the month of April. Additionally, Fox’s American Idol appeared in the rankings again at #15 thanks to its April 7th series finale.
Notable dropouts of the TOMAmeter from the month of March include House of Cards, Fuller House and Daredevil (which premiered all of their seasons at once on Netflix), AMC’s Better Call Saul, which had its season finale on April 18th, and The Oscars/Academy Awards.
ABC leads in the TOMAmeter for the month of April, with five programs in the top twenty, followed by CBS with four.
