In the week leading up to its premiere, Fear the Walking Dead rose four places in the TOMAmeter rankings, to #4, where it now threatens to enter the top three and push Orange is the New Black out. If it enters the top three, it will be the first new program to be among the leaders in mention since Empire entered the top three in February.
Following a season that was something of a disappointment both critically as well as in viewership, True Detective (previously #14) fell out of the top twenty in ranking.
Also dropping out of the top twenty this week are Criminal Minds (previously #12), Arrow (previously #13), True Detective (previously #14), and CSI (previously #15). They are replaced by Under the Dome (#12), The Flash (#14), Once Upon a Time (#16), and Zoo (#18), all of which return to the top twenty.
CBS continues to lead among all networks with five programs in the top twenty in unaided mention; ABC follows closely behind with four programs. AMC, the CW, and Fox all follow with two apiece.
Each week, Ipsos MediaCT TV Dailies seeks to find out what television shows have people talking. Collecting over 5,000 unaided responses among persons ages 13-64, TV Dailies produces a top of mind awareness meter (TOMAmeter) that details the 20 most spontaneously mentioned television shows.
Here are your TOMAmeter results for August 17 – 23.
