Canadians Among Most Positive in Assessing Current Economic Situation

Canadians’ assessments of the national economy have remained remarkably stable over the past two years, with two-thirds (65%) holding positive views. These positive perceptions keep Canada among the top countries internationally on this sentiment, along with: Saudi Arabia (84%), Sweden (76%), Germany (66%) and China (65%). In comparison, only 36% of global citizens describe the current economic situation in their country as “good”.

Looking at economic assessments by region, Alberta residents are the most positive of all regions in assessing most of the economic measures. They lead other regions in Canada on their positive assessments of the national economy, local economy (including six month outlook) and personal finances. Rating their personal finances outlook is the only measure where Atlantic residents have jumped ahead of Alberta and other regions to lead in optimism about the prospects for their personal finances in six months.
